  1. What is Flamel College?  Founded in 1968, this unique institution began as a discussion group of European alchemists studying in the tradition of Nicolas Flamel. The original group expanded into a non-traditional college with instructors and students in over a dozen different countries. While the college is a non-traditional school, we do try to offer our students transferable credit to conventional universities and internationally recognized certification through a variety of accrediting agencies. Students may sign up for individual classes or choose to enroll in one of our Study Programs to work toward certificates and degrees.
  2. How do I join the faculty of Flamel College?  Your proposal must be for a subject within the departments of the college. See Class Catalog. Just send your course proposal and short bio to the Administration Office. or direct us to an Internet link to your exisitng online course material. If you teach exclusively by correspondence, please mail copies of your course materials to us. You will be notified within one week as to whether your course proposal has been accepted. Once you are accepted, your courses will be listed in our Catalog and your bio and contact information will be featured on the Faculty page.
  3. How exactly does the instructor program work?  Flamel College attempts to bring together the best of online classes and correspondence courses into a cohesive plan of study for prospective students. By offering a large variety of classes through which students can receive certification in their chosen field, we provide a badly needed service to both students and instructors of esoteric topics. The students would enroll in Flamel College and pay us for your course. They receive credit towards Flamel College certificates and diplomas for taking any of your courses for which they register through us. They would pay us tuition at your advertised rates, and we would send you your payment immediately. In return, you have a new source of students you would not have otherwise had, free advertising of your courses, important links on the web, and listing as a faculty member of Flamel College. Of course, we would handle and issue all transcripts and certificates for Flamel College. All you need to tell us is when the student passes your course.
How much will I be paid as an instructor?  Many of our teachers make over $10,000 per year with just one course. However, the current average compensation is $3, 745 per year. Your payment is based on 70%-80% of the tuition cost for each student. Flamel College pays all enrollment fees, advertising, credit card processing fees, certificates, transcripts, and mailing costs. We also provide individual support for all students. Instructors are paid on a per-student basis as soon as a new student signs up for your course. Payments to you are made by PayPal, credit card, bank transfer, or check.
  4. Can I set up a class if I already teach it elsewhere?  Most of our instructors already teach their courses in classrooms, online, or by correspondence. By registering their content with Flamel College, their students become eligible for credit and diplomas from the college.
  5. Do I retain the rights to intellectual property if I create a class and add my content?  You retain exclusive rights to all the information you provide within your coursework. Since you control the enrollment policy of your class, the content you provide is released to only those individuals you have granted access to your class. Flamel College will not attempt to republish your content in any form without your prior consent.
  6. How do I set up a class?  You course should be based on a book or manual with a syllabus (outline of study assignments). You must also provide a final test on the material in your class graded on a percentile basis. When you submit these materials, your class will be activated.
  7. How do I teach a successful online or correspondence course?  Tell the students upon enrolling into your class what exactly is expected of them. you still have to start at a very basic level when clearly describing course requirements because most students entering your class will be unfamiliar with how online classes work. Class Lessons are the key to a successful online class. Class Lessons provide the methodology for you to break down your course objectives into logical, incremental steps your students can easily follow. Class Lessons can be short, a paragraph or two, or pages and pages long depending on the type of class you are teaching and the content of the material. In short, do not underestimate the Class Lesson area. A successful online class for a student is largely determined by the quantity and quality of your class lessons.
  8. How can I increase my student enrollments?  Most of the popularity of our classes is due to word-of-mouth, so get people talking about your course material. Join Internet discussion groups, exchange Internet links, email prospective students, and tell your family and friends about your course. Promote the Flamel College certification program on your website and in your literature.
